  12. The ID LOGIC (R) SW Simulator for Windows ("Software") simulates
  13. the shortwave receiver of the (near) future which will permit the
  14. automatic scanning for a station by name, language, schedule and
  15. other attributes.

  17. ID LOGIC SW receivers will contain an in-receiver database which
  18. will be updated by the broadcasters themselves via short digital
  19. update bursts.

  21. This Simulator contains the schedules of:
  22.  
  23.    - the BBC World Service
  24.    - the Voice of America
  25.    - Radio France Internationale
  26.    - Deutsche Welle
  27.    - Radio Netherlands

  29. ALL SCHEDULES WERE PROVIDED BY THE BROADCASTERS THEMSELVES.

  35. Minimum Requirements

  38. The ID LOGIC SW Simulator for MS Windows requires the following:
  39.  
  40.     - IBM PC compatible machine;
  41.     - MS Windows Version 3.1 or later;
  42.     - Microsoft (or compatible) mouse;
  43.     - Display minimum: 540x480 x 256 colors (64k preferred);
  44.     - VBRUN300.DLL and DDEML.DLL in the /Windows/System subdirectory.
  45.       NOTE: If you do not already have VBRUN300.DLL, or DDEML.DLL you 
  46.       can download them with FTP from hk.net (look for VBRUN300.ZIP
  47.       and DDEML.ZIP in the /shareware/prs directory.)
  48.       Do this BEFORE running SETUP.EXE

  51. Very Brief History

  54. ID LOGIC is a scanning/tuning system which permits the user to
  55.  
  56.   1) automatically identify any tuned-in station
  57.   2) scan for a station by station attribute such as format
  58.     (e.i. type of music), callsign, language, etc.
  59.  
  60. PRS started to develop ID LOGIC in 1986. The first product was the
  61. ID LOGIC Module for AM/FM radio receivers for use in North America
  62. (which is today - 1994 - on the N.Am market in several radios).
  63.  
  64. We have already licensed SONY, MATSUSHITA (Panasonic/Technics),
  65. PIONEER, KENWOOD, ALPINE, SANYO, CLARION, JVC, and others.
  66. You should see a whole bunch of ID LOGIC models hit the market in '95.

  68. In 1993, ID LOGIC was integrated in the Radio Broadcast Data System
  69. (RBDS) standard issued by the National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC)
  70. on January 8, 1993. (This is the U.S. version of the European
  71. RDS standard.)

  73. Since 1992 we have been working with the BBC World Service and the Voice
  74. of America to develop an ID LOGIC version for shortwave receivers.
  75. This open consortium has since been joined by Radio France
  76. Internationale and Radio Canada International.
  77. We expect it will soon grow rapidly. (Stay tuned.)

  79. There, the idea is to permit SW listeners to tune to a station by
  80. pressing at most two buttons (one for the desired broadcaster,
  81. the other for the desired language). The consortium is conducting
  82. tests to establish the best mode to automatically update the
  83. in-receiver databases which form the basis of ID LOGIC.

  112. Corporation ("PRS"), a New York corporation.

  114. ID LOGIC is a Registered Trademark (R) of PRS Corporation

  116. ID LOGIC is the subject of several U.S. and foreign patents.

  118. The source code, object code and associated materials are all
  119. Copyrighted (C) 1994 PRS Corporation.

  121. PRS Corporation is the owner of all the property rights of
  122. ID LOGIC, ID LOGIC SW, ID LOGIC "RDS", the ID LOGIC Simulators
  123. and all application software first available on the anonymous
  124. ftp server hk.net (/shareware/prs).

  126. PRS grants to the user a nonexclusive license to use this Software 
  127. solely for its internal private purposes.  The user shall not

  165. program and plan to use it for more than a couple of weeks,
  166. you should then register with us (see the REGISTRATION

  168. files in the software and updates to the program.

  170. ONE YEAR for all new releases and updates of the DATABASES.
